| Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate CARES Helps 8-Year Old Kidney Transplant Candidate
Associateís Special Relationship with Marcelo Dalto Began at Ronald McDonald House Charities |

| Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate CARES, the charitable arm of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, formed a special bond with Marcelo Dalto, an eight-year-old boy in need of a kidney transplant, through Rosa Aguiar, CARES representative and sales associate at the companyís Kendall Town & Country office. ìI met Marcelo through the companyís support of Ronald McDonald House Charities last November when he was recovering from an operation,î said Aguiar. Since their first meeting, when Aguiar helped organize the CARES McGiving Ice Cream Party, she visits Marcelo at least once a week to check on his progress and deliver presents. According to Aguiar, ìThe ice cream party was a hit. The children ate cake, ice-cream and homemade cookies,î said Aguiar. In addition, all the children received free toys, books and videos. Aguiar has raised over $1,300 for Marceloís operation through CARES events.
Marcelo was born with a rare congenital disorder of the urinary system called Prune Belly Syndrome which affects the development of his internal organs. The syndrome affects about one in 40,000 births. The syndrome is named for the mass of wrinkled skin that is often (but not always) present on the abdomens of those with the disorder. Marcelo is scheduled for a kidney transplant and his mother, Virginia Roman, will donate her kidney to her son. ìI am driven by his smile and his will to survive,î said Roman. In their native Uruguay, a special account was established to help collect funds to pay for the operation, but it is not enough. Roman and her husband, Marcelo Dalto Sr., sold their home and traveled to Miami with the hope of finding a cure for their son. A resident of Miami for over 50 years, Aguiar feels it is important to make time for Marcelo. She has two children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ìWhen Marcelo told me he wanted a Power Ranger movie, my reward in presenting the movie to him was his beautiful smile.î Ronald McDonald House Charities, Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estateís statewide initiative, is a non-profit organization providing support programs that improve the health and well-being of critically ill and injured children. ìThrough the Ronald McDonald House, Rosa has developed a special relationship with Marcelo.
