Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate CARES, the charitable arm of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, is pleased to announce it will kick-off a "Green" build at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 22 on the corner of Central Avenue and 21st Street. According to Sue Wolverton, Regional Senior Vice President, Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, Sarasota Bay, "We are excited about the opportunity to sponsor Habitat for Humanity's first green build. The real estate market is moving toward energy-efficient, sustainable and healthier design and features. We feel that this effort will help build public awareness about environmentally friendly construction methods."
The home represents Coldwell Banker's 17th Habitat for Humanity home sponsorship since 2005 and its first "Green" certified in accordance with the Florida Green Building Council. With over $100,000 donated by CARES to sponsoring this Habitat for Humanity home, the build will use new construction technologies to provide the owners with a home that is more economical to live in, requires less work to maintain, is substantially more durable than homes built by other methods and is environmentally sound. Energy-efficient products such as roof-top solar water heating panels will produce the home's hot water, which accounts for 25% of the average household's electricity use. High efficiency air conditioning systems, and Energy Star rated appliances and electrical fixtures use less energy and lower homeowners' electric bills.
Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Cares' mission is to give back to the communities and neighborhoods in which its members live and serve by providing charitable contributions and volunteer support, thus strengthening and reinforcing its commitment to creating a lasting source of unity, hope and vision throughout Florida. Since its inception in 2001, Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Cares has raised over $2 million for local non-for-profit charities and programs throughout Florida.
